The Lakers qualified for sub-District play and so traveled to Parma to play in a four-team single elimination tournament. In game one, the Lakers drew the Edison State Chargers. The Lakers were paced by Garrett Sierra's four for four performance (three 1B's, 2B, BB). He also scored three times and had an RBI. Spencer Schultz also had a big game as he collected two hits (2B, 1B) and three RBIs to help pace the Lakers to a 7-4 victory. This game was predicted to be a battle as the teams split the season series. The Lakers used consistent scoring throughout the win as they scored at least one run in five of the eight innings. After an unearned run in the first, the Lakers plated two runs in the second as a Cody Pittenger single was followed by consecutive doubles by Sierra and Schultz. The Lakers scored a single run in the fourth inning as a leadoff Mitch Dragon walk was followed by consecutive singles from Pittenger and Sierra. In the sixth, the Lakers scored two more runs as Sierra and Schultz started the inning with consecutive singles. This was followed by a Levi Jones sac fly and a run scoring single from Adam Samuels. The Lakers final run scored was in the seventh inning. Mitch Dragon led off with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. He later scored on another Sierra single.
In what turned into Anthony Miller's final start on the mound for Lakeland, the sophomore from Fort Wayne, Indiana was strong in picking up the victory. Miller threw 7.1 innings and allowed seven hits and four earned runs while striking out seven batters. Going into the top of the eighth inning, Miller had only allowed five hits and one run. He had also struck out three of the last four batters he had faced. In the eighth, he tired though and allowed a couple of base hits and walks to enable the Chargers to try and get back into the game. Eli Brown relieved and pitched the final 1.2 innings. He struck out two and picked up the save.
With the victory, the Lakers move on to the finals playing the winner of the Cuyahoga Community College vs. Vincennes University game with a District bid on the line.
