The Lakers men's basketball team fell 78-69 to the Sinclair Community College Tartans this past Saturday. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 6-11 overall and 2-6 in the OCCAC. The Tartans were led by Division I prospect Akiean Frederick who scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. The Lakers were led by freshman Da'ron Falkner who scored 16 points on 6-11 shooting while also grabbing 10 boards. Freshman Trevon Granger also had a solid afternoon as he scored 21 points. Sophomore Jeff Nevulis pitched in with nine points and five rebounds. This was a close game throughout as the Tartans had a four point lead at the half. Sinclair then built a 10 point early second half lead before Lakeland cut if to five with less than six minutes to play and possession of the ball. Unfortunately, they misfired on shots in two consecutive possessions and Sinclair did not look back.

The Lakers next game is Wednesday as they play host to the Columbus State Cougars. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
