With the big lead at the half, Lakeland was able to manage the game in the second half enabling all players to contribute. Every player scored for the Lakers in this game.
This was a big day for Germain as he led all scorers with 19 points on 6-8 shooting from the field and 7-7 shooting from the free throw line...it was also his birthday! Charles Walton, Jr. and Jordan McMillian each chipped in 11 points while Jonny Bowers had 9 points and 6 rebounds. As a team, Lakeland shot an outstanding 28-32 from the line (87.5%).
Bowe Bytes: "This was a solid team effort - really liked the way we made the extra passes tonight and played strong defense. We've been able to get on a little roll as of late winning 5 straight. I hope this poises us to finish the semester strong. Due to finals, we are planning to give the players a few extra days off so they can really focus and finish strong in the classroom. Next weekend will be an excellent challenge for us as we play two strong teams in Delta and Schoolcraft; will need to come out with a strong effort."
Next up: The Lakers will travel to Delta College in Saginaw Michigan this weekend to play in the Lynn Conway Classic. On Saturday, Lakeland will suit up in a 6 pm tip against host Delta College. Lakeland beat Delta in a thrilling early season match-up 85-83. On Sunday, Lakeland will play Schoolcraft College at 1 pm in the second day of the Classic. The Lakers will return home on Thursday, December 19, for their final game of the semester as they will take on the Skippers from St. Clair County CC at 7:30 pm. Admission is free.
