Title: Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Aaron Nixon begins his first season as assistant coach for Lakeland men's basketball under coach Terry Bowe. 

Before Lakeland, Nixon was an assistant coach at West Virginia State University for three seasons. 

As a player, Nixon was an NCAA Division I All-American selection as a senior in 2007 at California State University, Long Beach. That same year he was also named conference tournament Most Valuable Player and was the Big West Conference player of the year. 

Long Beach State finished with a 24-8 record that year on their way to winning the Big West Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Long Beach State lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to the University of Tennessee but Nixon scored 23 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. 

As a point guard, Nixon led the 49ers in scoring as a junior and senior and is still second in 3-point field goals made in a career at Long Beach State. 

Following his career at Long Beach State, Nixon played professionally for three years overseas. After his playing career, Nixon coached at Division III Heidelburg University followed with a two-year stint at NAIA Lourdes University.
