KIRTLAND, Ohio – The Lakeland Community College men's soccer team was in action as they were victorious over Lorain County Community College. With the win the Lakers improved their record to 3-2 overall.
The first half started out slow as both teams needed to get a feel for the others style of play. Mohamed Doumbia (Euclid, Ohio / Euclid) opening the scoring for the Lakers when he found the back of the net off an assist from Raymond Salukombo (Cleveland, Ohio / Lincoln West). Lakeland entered the intermission with a 1-0 lead.
The Lakers dominated the second half of the game as they scored four goals. Five minutes into the second half Doumbia scored his second goal of the game off an assist by Khadim Mbaye (Dakar, Senegal / Sacre Coeur). Less than 10 minutes later the Lakers made the score 3-0 when J Davilla (Parkersburg, WV / Parkersburg South High School) assisted a Salukombo goal. With 15 minutes remaining in the match Joel Razo (Perry, Ohio / Perry) scored his first career collegiate goal, to give Lakeland a 4-0 advantage. Kallai Krivoy (Geneva, Ohio / Mentor Christian Academy) connected with Jesus Ledsema (Painesville, Ohio / Riverside) for a goal in the final minute of the game. The Lakers won the game 5-0.
Lakeland Community College will return to action Saturday (Sept. 10) when they travel to take on Cincinnati State at 1 p.m.
