NORTH EAST, Pa. – Lakeland Community College men's soccer prepared for the upcoming Region XII playoffs by handing Mercyhurst North East a 4-0 defeat Wednesday afternoon.
Four different players scored for the Lakers as Lakeland finishes the regular season with a 13-5-1 overall record and finishes 6-5-1 in Region XII play.
Joel Razo Bermudez, Alexis Serna Moscosa, Brendon Mullen and Carlos Pesso each scored a goal for the Lakers. Olivier Fevrier Sildor only played in the second half but assisted on both goals in the second half. Mullen and Pesso also added an assist in the win.
Both teams were fairly equal in shots as Mercyhurst finished with 14 shots while Lakeland fired 16 shots. Aaron Hafer earned the shutout as keeper with 10 saves.
It took a while in the first half but Bermudez was able strike first for the Lakers with a goal in the 36th minute after receiving a pass from Pesso. Moscosa was able to increase the Lakeland lead before halftime after getting an assist from Mullen to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute that would hold up until halftime.
Sildor came on in the second half and delivered two assists to help put the game away. Sildor found Mullen for a goal in the 83rd minute for a 3-0 lead and then delivered an assist to Pesso who made the game 4-0 for the Lakers in the 85th minute. Lakeland would keep Mercyhurst scoreless for the entire game for the win.
Lakeland will next play in the Region XII tournament but the schedule for the tournament has yet to be released.
