The Lakeland Men’s soccer team is entering its 50th season under new Coach, Amir Kettani. Before this season, there have only been two other coaches that have held the helm at Lakeland. On Sunday, Djuro Peric and Mario Marcopoli were honored at a banquet following the rain shortened alumni game. Marcopli was the head coach for the first 18 years of the program while Peric led the program for the next 31 years. Both have been a staple at Lakeland soccer for over four decades. Lakeland President Morris Beverage honored them Sunday with awards and then granted them both the distinction of Soccer Coach Emeritus for Lakeland Community College during the presentation.
Congratulations to both for the honors – but more importantly, thank you for your leadership and dedication!
