The Lady Lakers (6-2) softball team kept rolling Friday as they defeated the Golden Eagles 12-2 and 16-0 in two 5-inning games in New Philadelphia. In the first game, the Lakers collected 13 hits – 4 in the 4 run third and 8 in the 8 run fourth – to gain the victory. For the Lakers, Danae Scoville, Jamie Matso, Amber Leiderbach (2B and 3B), Abbe Mowrer (two 2B and 3 RBI's), and Sarah Steigerwald (3B) collected 2 hits apiece. On the mound, McKailyn Woodward struck out 10 and allowed 1 hit in pitching the complete game victory.
In the nightcap, the Lakers used a 10 run and 9 hit fourth inning to roll to the 16-0 victory. Lakeland collected 22 hits on the day with 6 players collecting at least two. Emily Woods led the attack with 4 hits including a triple and her fourth home run of the season. Justine Barnes had 3 doubles and 4 RBI's while Shardonay Miller went 3-4. Laura Matso, Jamie Matso, and Abbe Mowrer each contributed with two hits. Amber Leiderbach added a two run home run; her second of the season. Sydney Aey pitched a 5 inning complete game striking out 6 and scattering 3hits.
The games Sunday, March 26, at Ohio University – Lancaster were rained out.
There has been a change to the schedule for this week as the Lakers will now host Notre Dame JV Thursday, 3/30 in a 3 p.m. doubleheader. On Friday, the team is scheduled to travel to Marietta for a 3 p.m. doubleheader. On Sunday, April 2, they are scheduled to host Monroe CC in a noon time twinbill.
