Lakeland softball inks Bailee Thorn for first 2020 signing

Lakeland softball inked its first 2020 recruit with the signing of Bailee Thorn, a shortstop from Salem High School.

Thorn is a three-year varsity letter winner at Salem heading into her senior season this spring and was named team captain last year. Thorn also holds three school records at Salem as she broke most runs and hits in a season and consecutive games reaching base.

Thorn is also the current record holder for most runs scored in a career and still has her senior season to build upon that record.

Thorn has also received academic honors at Salem High School and wants to study dental hygiene at Lakeland starting next fall.

Lakeland will begin the 2019 season on Saturday, Feb. 16 with a trip to North Carolina to face Patrick Henry Community College and Surry Community College.
