The Lakeland women's basketball team dropped two games over the weekend falling at Edison State 72-60 and then at Genesee CC 61-50. At Piqua, the teams battled to a tie after the first half. The Chargers then outscored the Lakers 19-10 in the third quarter and coasted to the victory. Brianna Prugel led the way for the Lakers scoring 19 pts while Alicia Sephus had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Alicia Ward also contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds. Against the cougars, the game was within two points at the half. Another tough third quarter for the Lakers though decided this game as they were outscored 19-9 in that stanza. Makea Scott led the Lakers with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Patricia Cistrunk contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds while Prugel added 11 points and Ward helped with 7 points and 9 rebounds. With the loss, the Lady Lakers drop to 3-6.
The Lady Lakers will be back in action after the holiday break when they travel to Columbus State Jan. 11. The Lakers next home game is Jan. 18, when they play host to Lorain County CC. Tip off time for both games is 5:30 p.m.
