The Lakeland women's basketball team defeated the Lorain County Commodores 82-38 last night. The Lakers led throughout the contest and were paced by four players scoring in double figures. Alicia Sephus (26 points and 10 rebounds) and Patricia Cistrunk (21 points and 14 rebounds) recorded double doubles for the Lady Lakers. Brianna Prugel added 19 points while Makea Scott chipped in with 14.
Coach Gardenhire gave additional praise to Prugel as she was very effective at controlling the tempo of the game; a key component for the Lakers. He also credited her for having no turnover's last night. Early in the game, Cistrunk was very difficult to stop as she helped the Lakers jump out to an early lead. Overall, Gardenhire was pleased with his team's effort overall and hopes that his team can continue to build off this victory.
The Lakers are back at it this weekend as they play host to the Cincinnati State Surge Saturday. Tip off for the women is scheduled for 1 p.m.
