The Lady Lakers started early and then cruised to a 92-36 victory over the visiting Bryant & Stratton Bobcats on Wednesday evening. The Lady Lakers came out with a lot of energy and were able to take advantage of the Bobcats with their overall size and athleticism. Lakeland also hit 3 big 3 pointers in the quarter to take the wind out of the Bobcats sails early. The score at the end of the first quarter was 24-11. The 13 point cushion was then increased to a 23 point lead at the half. The Lakers did not relent. They came out of the break and devastated the Bobcats with a 29-2 third quarter advantage.  From there, Lakeland just played out the 4th quarter to earn the victory. The 56 point victory is among the largest in school history.  With their 21st consecutive victory, the Lakers record now stands at 22-1.

Lakeland had 5 players score in double figures. The inside play was led by Armani Jackson (20 points and 19 rebounds) and Rayonna Peterson (19 points and 17 rebounds). The guard play of Julie Hajdu (14 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists) and Makayla Cooper (10 points and 9 rebounds) was strong while Gianna Pegoraro's outstanding play gave the Lakers 19 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Triniti Lee played strong adding 6 points while Dior Morgan's tough defense was supported with 4 points and 2 assists.

Players Perspectives

Julie Hajdu - "I thought we communicated well on both ends of the floor. We did a nice job drawing some fouls and completing plays." On upcoming games, "we just need to keep pushing the ball ahead and put pressure on the teams with our defense." Weekend plans since there are no games this weekend, "Sleep! ...and study" - with a smile!

Armani Jackson - "We got off to a fast start. In the 1st quarter, we came with a lot of energy and really just cruised from there." Weekend plans since there are no games this weekend, "Study!....and sleep - I have some exams coming up." - also with a smile!

Gardy's Gab: "We shot the ball pretty well overall. We really just dominated on the defensive end and on the glass. We will take a little bit of time to enjoy this before getting back into our regular schedule for two tough conference games next week."

Next up: The Lakers are off Saturday and then head to Cuyahoga Wednesday (2/19) to take on the Challengers in a 5:30 tip.  Lakeland will then return home on Saturday (2/22) to play their final regular season home game of the season.  The game begins at 1:00pm and admission is free.
