BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Lakeland women's soccer had its chances to score but it was Lake Michigan College cashing in three times for a 3-0 victory over the Lakers in the program's first ever soccer game.
With the loss, Lakeland falls to 0-1 overall and in Region XII play.
Maria Sill (Geneva) had the most chances with seven shots while Liz Serago (Euclid) added three shots. Brianna Paulett (Lyndhurst), Cayleigh Megyesi (Concord), Tiffany Woodruff (Minford) and Lora Stewart (Cleveland Heights) each had a shot in the shutout loss.
Lake Michigan scored all three goals in the first half and Lakeland was unable to recover.
The Lakers will look to bounce back with a road game on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. against Muskegon Community College.
