Kimbrough Named to All-OCCAC Second Team

Lakeland Community College freshman Kanija Kimbrough has been named to the 2025-26 All-OCCAC Second Team, as the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) announced its annual women’s basketball awards Thursday.

Kimbrough was the focal point of a Lakers squad that finished the season with a 13-12 overall record and a 7-5 mark in conference play. Her selection highlights a season in which Lakeland remained a competitive force in the conference, finishing above .500 both overall and in league competition.

Kimbrough anchored the Lakers' interior, leading the team in several major statistical categories. She averaged a double-double for the season with 12.9 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. Her defensive prowess was equally notable, as she led the team in both steals (3.9 per game) and blocks (1.4 per game).

Cuyahoga Community College swept the top individual honors, with La’Nia Moore named Player of the Year and Playmaker of the Year, while Dion Griffin was selected as Coach of the Year.

Other major award winners included Hawa Ba of Hocking College as Defensive Player of the Year and Liv Mullins of Owens Community College as the Player of the Year runner-up.
