The Lakeland Lakers baseball team traveled to Wright State to take on the Lakers in non-league action. Lakeland split the games by the scores of 11-1 (W - 6 innings) and 8-1 (L) to make their record 5-7 (2-2). In game 1, with Lakeland trailing 1-0, the Lakers struck with 3 runs in the top of the second inning. Tyronne Barbosa got things going with a walk. Tristan DesLauriers followed with a single. After that, Seth Freeman, RJ Petties, and Malakai Roberts each recorded RBI singles. The score remained 3-1 until the top of the 5th inning when Lakeland pushed across 3 more runs to give them a commanding 6-1 lead. Freeman had a bases-loaded walk and Ben Sterrit picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice. The Lakers finished off the game by exploding for 5 runs in the top of the 6th inning. Petties started it off with a walk. Kyle Zaluski later singled before Barbosa walked again to load the bases. Tristan DesLauriers then stepped to the plate and hit a 2-RBI double. Seth Freeman delivered the knockout punch hitting a monster 3-run home run enabling Lakeland to run-rule Wright State. Freeman finished the game 3-3 with 5 RBI's and 3 runs scored. Tristan DesLauriers went 2-3 with 2 RBI's, a double, and 2 runs scored. Kyle Zaluski went 2-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Abe Bayus earned the win pitching 3 innings and allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 2 batters. Alex Ehinger pitched 2 innings and struck out 2 batters while Tanner Low pitched a clean inning to complete the game.
Game 2 was a reversal of fortune for the Lakers as they gave up 7 runs in the first inning. That one difficult inning, the only one all day, was too much for the Lakers to overcome. Take that inning away and it was a well-played 1-1 game. Lakeland scored their run when Cody Hejduk hit an RBI single after walks by Alex Ehinger and Caden Gopalakrishna. Kris Scandy went 2-4 and Ben Sterrit doubled. Tyler Kelly took the loss on the mound.
