The Lakers faced the Mercer County Vikings today on get-away day and dropped a 4-1 decision. Lakeland's Anthony Barbosa started on the mound and was dealing early. Barbosa surrendered just 1 hit in the first 4 innings. At the same time, Lakeland's offense was stifled until they broke through in the bottom of the 4th inning. Parker LaGreca got the Lakers going with a 1-out single. Jacob Trevena later hit a 2-out RBI-double to stake the Lakers to a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 5th inning, the Vikings took a 3-1 lead as they took advantage of a couple of hits and a walk. For the Lakers, thats as close as they would get as they stranded 2 base runners in both the 5th and 6th innings. The Vikings would add one more run in the top of the 7th to take the win.

Offensively, Lakeland had a tough day at the plate as they only managed 3 hits. Jacob Trevena finished with 2 of the hits and an RBI. Parker LaGreca recorded the other hit for the Lakers. Anthony Barbosa picked up the loss and was charged with 4 earned runs on 6 hits in 6 innings. Barbosa also struck out 4 batters. Kaden Stout relieved and pitched 1 inning.

Next Up: On Tuesday (3/17), the Lakers are scheduled to travel to Mount Union for a single 9-inning game. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
