The Lakeland baseball team traveled to Lorain County College today to face the Commodores in OCCAC competititon. Lakeland received two outstanding pitching performances as they won both ends of the doubleheader by the scores of 13-2 and 3-1. Lakeland jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an Emmanuel Dominguez grand slam. The Lakers would score 7 more runs in the 4th inning to ice the game. In the inning, Brooks Baker tripled and scored while both Sam Tetley and Adrian Cuadrado singled and scored. Josiah Cuesta added a two-run homer to help pace the Lakers.
Ethan Duncan started and picked up the win pitching 7 innings and allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on two hits while striking out 4 batters. Brooks Baker led the way offensively with 3 hits while Sam Tetley and Adrian Cuadrado each added two hits for the Lakers.
In game 2, Coleton Logan had a tremendous effort on the mound as he picked up the complete game victory pitching 7 innings and allowing 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 12 batters. In the first inning, Jacob Trevena hit an RBI-single to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead. Lorain tied it up with a run in the 3rd inning before the Lakers took the lead for good in the 5th inning. Will Mijares had a key double in the inning. Trevena led the way for the Lakers collecting 2 hits and adding 2 RBI's in the Lakers victory.
Next Up: The Lakers will play host to the Lorain County Commodores on Monday (3/30) in a 1:00 pm doubleheader.
