The Lakeland baseball team played host to the Tri-C Triceratops today and dropped a tough 7-4 decision. Lakeland started with a 1-0 lead as Josiah Cuesta homered in the 2nd inning. The Lakers expanded the lead to 2-0 in the 3rd inning. James LaVigne started things with a double before Adrian Cuadrado sacrificed bunted LaVigne to 3rd base. LaVigne later scored on a wild pitch. Cuyahoga knotted things up with single runs in the 4th and 5th innings after taking advntage of a Lakeland error. Tri-C would then take the lead as they scored 4 runs in the 6th and one more in the 7th innings as they took advantage of walks and a hit batter. In the bottom of the 7th, the Lakers would not quit as they rallied for a couple of runs. Sam Tetley started the rally with a leadoff single. After a James LaVigne walk, LaVigne was erased on a fielders choice from Adrian Cuadrado. Ryan Thomson later walked to load the bases. Jacob Trevena was then hit by a pitch to force in a run. Adrian Cuadrado later scored on a wild pitch. Jacob Trevena then was hit by a pitch to reload the bases with 1 out and the Lakers trailing by 3 runs. Unfortunately for the Lakers, that's as close as they'd get as they dropped the game to the Triceratops.
Josiah Cuesta led the way offensively with 2 hits and an RBI. James LaVigne, Adrian Cuadrado, and Sam Tetley each had a hit and scored a run while Cameron Huang-Ince added a hit in the loss. Coleton Logan took the tough luck loss pitching 6 innings and allowing 6 runs (2 earned) while striking out 6 batters. Dash Innes relieved and pitched 1 ining allowing 1 earned run while striking out a batter.
Next Up: On Friday (4/17), the Lakers are scheduled to face the Edison State Chargers on Laker Field. First pitch is schedculed for 1:00 pm.
