The Lakers traveled to Solon, OH today to face the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats in OCCAC action. The Lakers were looking to avenge yesterdays losses and wound up earning a split. In game 1, the Lakers fell into a quick 1-0 hole in the 1st inning. The Lakers then scored 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 4-1 lead. Josiah Cuesta started the rally with a walk. Cuesta would then steal second base and score on an RBI-single from Adrian Cuadrado. Lorenzo Malcolm then ripped a 2-run home run to center field to give the Lakers the lead. Parker LaGreca then blasted a solo shot to give the Lakers back-to-back jacks and a 4-1 lead. The Bobcats scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd inning before Lakeland exploded for 5 runs in the 3rd inning to take a commanding 9-2 lead. Ryan Thomson started the inning with a walk before Jacob Trevena was hit by a pitch. Thomson would later score on an RBI-single from Adrian Cuadrado. Parker LaGreca then knocked in Trevena with another RBI-single. Will Mijares then stepped to the plate and smashed a 3-run home run for the Lakers. Lakeland added another run in the top of the 4th inning on a solo shot from Cameron Huang-Ince.
Parker LaGreca and Adrian Cuadrado led the way for the Lakers with both collecting 2 hits, 2 RBI's, and scoring 2 runs. Will Mijares had a hit and 3 RBI's while Lorenzo Malcolm had a hit and 2 RBI's. Cameron Huang-Ince added a home run and RBI in the victory. Ethan Duncan earned the win pitching 5 innings and allowing 7 runs (6 earned) while striking out 7 batters. Colby Crosby relieved and earned the save pitching 2 innings and allowing 1 run while striking out 2 batters.
In game 2, the Lakers jumped out to a 1-0 lead n the top of the first on consecutive doubles from Cameron Huang-Ince and Ryan Thomson. The Bobcats took advantage of Lakeland errors to tie it in the home half before the Lakers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. Will Mijares hit a 2-out double and scored on an RBI-triple from James LaVigne. The Bobcats took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning before the Lakers knotted it at 3 in the top of the 3rd inning. Josiah Cuesta hit a 2-out double and was knocked home on an RBI-single from Adrian Cuadrado. The Bobcats then scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to take an 8-3 lead. In the top of the 5th inning, the Lakers battled back by scoring 2 runs to make the score 8-5. Sam Tetley started the rally with a 1-out double. Tetley later scored on an RBI-single from Adrian Cuadrado. Cuadrado would score on an RBI-double from Lorenzo Malcolm. Unfortunately for Lakeland, that's as close as they would get as they left the bases loaded in the 6th inning and 2 runners on in the 7th inning to drop game 2.
Adrian Cuadrado recorded 2 hits and 2 RBI's while Will Mijares added 2 hits and scored a run. James LaVigne, Ryan Thomson, and Lorenzo Malcolm all finished with a hit and RBI while Cameron Huang-Ince, Sam Tetley, and Josiah Cuesta each had a hit and scored a run. Jacob Trevena and Parker LaGreca added a hit in the loss. Casen Smith started and took the loss pitching 3.2 innings and allowing 8 runs (7 earned) on 5 hits. Jack Argie relieved and allowed 4 runs in 2.1 innings while striking out 3 batters.
Every Lakeland starter recorded at least one hit. The Lakers also had 7 extra base hits (6 doubles and a triple).
Next Up: The Lakers will travel to Cuyahoga on Monday (4/27) to face the Triceratops in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
