The Lakeland men's soccer team traveled to Muskegon Community College to take on the host Jayhawks in the semi-finals of the NJCAA DII Regional Tournament. Unfortunately, the Lakers suffered a 3-1 defeat to MCC and finished their season with an overall record of 5-5-1. The Jayhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Joe Bennett and Andrin Zumbuhl. Lakeland cut the lead to one early in the second half (49th minute) when Omani Leacock picked up the rebound of a deflected shot and promptly put it away to put the Lakers back in the game. In the 72nd mimute, the Lakers had a player flagged for their second yellow forcing them to play a person down for the remainder of the game. Lakeland was unable to overcome the Jayhaws after that and surrendered the back-breaking goal in the 88th minute.
Shots for both teams were tied at 11-11 and with MCC holding a 7-3 advantage for shots on goal. The Jayhawks also held a 4-2 advantage on corners.
