The Lakeland men's soccer team traveled to Owens Community College today and fell in a tightly contested match by a score of 2-1.  The two teams played a back and forth affair the entire first half. The Lakers had several opportunities to jump on top, but were unable to convert. In the second half, Lakeland made a defensive miscue with 18:02 to play as they left a man open just outside the box. The Express were able to score on a shot that went to the far back corner.  Lakeland continued to pressure the Express and carried much of the play before committing a foul in the box that led to a goal on a penalty kick by the Express. A minute later, Jason Cardenas-Torres played a ball to Byron Perez in the Express box. Perez was able to control the ball and make a nice dish to Alex Orozco for the Laker goal with 7:43 to play. Trailing 2-1, the Lakers would have a couple more scoring chances, but were unable to convert as they fell to the Express.

Ty's Talk: "We played extremely well today. Our teamwork and communication was very good. Despite our best efforts, a few critical errors cost us the game. I was pleased with our effort as we played with a lot of heart and skill - showed our true potential. Though the loss hurts, it will help remind us that even small mistakes can have big outcomes. We'll learn from this and come back stronger - ready to win our upcoming games."

Next Up: On Saturday (10/12), the Lakers will host Lake Michigan Community College at Laker Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
