The Lakeland soccer team traveled to Cuyahoga Community College today to play the Tricertaops in an OCCAC game. The Lakers came away with an impressive 1-0 victory to avenge an early season loss to Tri-C. This was a classic soccer battle as both teams tried to maintain possession and control of the game. During the first half, both teams had quality scoring opportunities with neither team breaking through. Both teams also played an aggressive style of pressure defense at a high energy level throughout. The teams went into the break deadlocked 0-0. 

In the second half, the Lakers wasted no time as they scored the games only goal four minutes into the half. On the play, Christian Guerra took a throw in and fed Byron Perez. Perez received the throw in, quickly turned, and fired a shot past the Tri-C keeper into the bottom right corner of the net.  The Lakers then continued to play their possession game and relied on a strong defensive effort to earn the win.

Coach Torres Talks: "Maximum effort from the team! First half was tight - great effort by both teams. We were able to keep our defensive shape on point all game. Big shoutout to Gavin (Gavin Svagerko) and Aly (Aly Sidibe) for leading the back line. Bruki (Dominik Bruketa) also for a clean sheet and some amazing saves! We'll enjoy this and get back at it next week to prepare for another good challenge next weekend."
