Lakers soccer falls to Jets

The Lakeland men's soccer team dropped a difficult 2-1 decision to the Jackson Jets today in Region XII play. The Lakers came out strong controlling the play early, but the Jets were the ones able to break through first as they scored on a tap in from a centering pass at the 20 minute mark. Three minutes later, the Lakers tied it up when Byron Perez connected on a penalty kick. The score would remain tied at one at the break. The Lakers would continue to control much of the play in the second half, but the Jets again scored as they were able to get around the defense and beat the Lakeland netminder 14 minutes into the period. Despite the Lakers outshooting the Jets 14-8 and out cornering them 4-1, Lakeland was unable to cash in as they dropped the match. Gael Briones, Abram Gutierrez, and Blais Gosse each recorded 3 shots for the Lakers. Byron Perez and Antonio Bistak each had 2 shots in the Lakers loss. Dominik Bruketa recorded 2 saves for Lakeland.

Next Up: Lakeland will conclude its regular season on Wednesday (10/22) when they play host to Marian University Ancilla in Region 12 action. Kick off is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Laker Field.
