The Lakeland men's soccer team played host to the Marian University Ancilla Chargers today in Region XII action to close out their season. The Lakers used a consistent effort with an offensive outburst to beat the Chargers 6-3. On a cold and windy day, both teams would have to adjust their games to account for those challenges. Abram Gutierrez put the Lakers on the board first as he carried the ball thru the Charger defense and ripped a shot by the netminder 22 minutes into the contest. For the rest of the half, both teams would challenge but neither would break thru as the score remained 1-0 at the break.
To start the second half, the Lakers came out strong as they scored twice in the first 20 minutes. Christian Guerra scored the first goal as he beat the Charger keeper to the low right side. Abram Gutierrez would score his second goal as he converted on a pass from Aly Sidibe. Trailing 3-0, the Chargers would score at the 65 minute mark after the Lakers defense misplayed a ball. Antonio Bistak then took over as he scored 3 goals in a 6 minute span. Bistak's first goal came after Blais Gosse controlled the ball on the right side near the endline. Gosse calmly beat a defender and then centered the ball to Bistak who quickly converted the pass. Bistak would score again 4 minutes later. This time, the unassisted goal was scored when he picked up a ball about 8 yards out and fired it past the Charger keeper. Two minutes later, Antonio Bistak picked up the hat trick as Gosse set him up again with another nice pass. From there, the Lakers cruised to the victory.
Dominik Bruketa picked up the win in net for the Lakers.

Coach Torres Talks: "Started a little slow but we were able to settle in and find our rhythm. Scoring the first goal was important as it really gave us momentum. In the second half we really came out quickly scoring back-to-back goals. I'm really proud of how the team responded and finished the match with intensity. Unfortunately our season is coming to an end, but we'll be back stronger and ready to build toward a successful year next season!"
