The Lakeland volleyball team traveled to Jamestown Community College to face the Jayhawks in non-league action. The Lakers started fast and never let up as they rolled to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-11) victory. The team combined aggressive net play with strong defense to cruise to the win. Sydney Park led the team with 14 kills and 24 digs while Alyssa Lino added 5 kills and 4 blocks. Taylor Williams-Stevens finished her evening with 10 kills, 2 blocks, and 5 aces. Abby Karasek had a strong game with 8 kills and 28 digs while Zoe Babnik led the team with 36 digs. Gianna Biondolillo recorded 20 digs while Isabella Schulz added 4 kills and a pair of digs. Samantha Winter picked up 4 kills and 4 digs while Ashlen Horowski finished with 4 digs. Mikayla Polefko chipped in a kill in the Laker win.
Player of the Game: Coach Watts commented, "Every player made a case for being player of the game tonight. Alyssa Lino really had a really strong game though with her play at the net. Her stellar kills and game stopping blocks set the tone for us."
Coach Watts' Word: "We played well as everyone contributed. I was happy with our effort - never gave up - we just kept getting after it. They had a big crowd tonight so it was good to take them out of it quickly. The team really looked like they had some fun tonight - it was a nice effort from the entire team."
Next Up: The Lakers will travel to southwestern Ohio this weekend to face the Clark State Eagles on Friday (9/26) in a 6:00 pm match before squaring off against the Edison State Chargers on Saturday (9/27) at 11:00 am.
