The Lakers traveled to Springfield, OH today to play the Clark State Eagles in OCCAC action. The Lakers took little time to take control of the match as they defeated the Eagles 3-0 (25-18, 25-8, 27-25). In set 1, the Lakers took a moment to get their legs under them. Eventually they took control of the game with strong defense and solid net play to earn the win. In set 2, Lakeland continued that same formula and added a strong serving portion to the game. That combination allowed the Lakers to roll in set 2. In set 3, the Lakers seemed to get a little complacent and so the set remained tight in terms of score. However, it was also a scenario where the Lakers appeared to be in control and eventually took the set and the match.

Taylor Williams-Stevens had a team high 12 kills and 4 blocks to help lead the Lakers while Alyssa Lino finished with 8 kills, 2 aces, and 4 blocks. Sydney Park added 7 kills and 11 digs while Isabella Schulz recorded 3 kills, 2 blocks, and 18 digs. Zoe Babnik had a team high 32 digs and Abby Karasek finished with a kill, a block, 2 aces, and 20 digs. Gianna Biondolillo added 7 digs while Mikayla Polefko chipped in 3 digs in the Lakers win. Samantha Winter had a very strong game with 2 kills, 4 digs, and numerous excellent sets.

Player of the Game: Samantha Winter and Taylor Williams-Stevens  Coach Watts commented, "they (Winter and Williams-Stevens) really complimented each other tonight with their efforts and leadership.  It was great to see that connection."

Coach Watts' Word: "I was really pleased with the way we played tonight. We played well and they really had fun together. It was a match where everyone was able to contribute and add to the win. We got a little lax in the 3rd set; however, we were determined and were able to get it done. We will rest up tonight as we have a quick turn-around and a tough match tomorrow."
