The Lakeland volleyball team continued their road swing this weekend as they dropped a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) match to the Edison State Chargers today. This was a highly competitive match that went back and forth throughout. Unfortunately for the Lakers, in each set they made some errors at critical times and were just unable to recover.

Sydney Park led the way with 8 kills, 2 aces, and 14 digs while Taylor Williams-Stevens had a strong match with 4 kills, 3 aces, a block, and 5 digs. Abby Karasek finished with 28 digs, and 2 kills while Alyssa Lino added 5 kills and a block. Isabella Schulz picked up 3 kills and 14 digs while Samantha Winter was excellent with the sets while adding 2 kills, 2 aces, and 8 digs. Zoe Babnik had a strong match chipping in with a kill and 15 digs for the Lakers.

Player of the Game: Zoe Babnik  Coach Watts comments,"Zoe was very level headed and consistent today. She also made some great digs that were critical in the match."

Coach Watts' Word: "We started strong, but were just unable to sustain the lead or our focus. Credit to Edison as they are a good team. We had our chances though - we had some good spurts and runs but just needed a more sustained effort. I'm really looking forward to starting the second round of conference games - we look forward to the challenge. We are a great team with so much talent - there are times that we have to remember that."

Next Up: The Lakers will travel to New Philadelphia on Wednesday as they play Kent State Tuscarawas on Wednesday (10/1). The match is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
