The Lakeland softball team traveled to John Carroll today to face the Blue Streaks in non-league action. The Blue Streaks took advantage of a 1st inning error to build a 5-0 lead before winning the game by an 11-1 final. Lakeland scored it's run in the top of the 2nd inning. Abby Schneider got things going with a leadoff single before advancing on an error on a ball hit by Emerson Hren. Schneider later scored on an RBI-double from Carmen Alvarez. The Lakers had their chance early, but were unable to get the timely hit as they left runners on 2nd and 3rd base in the first 2 innings. Scnedier and Alvarez recorded the only hits for the Lakers. Abby Schneider took the loss pitching a complete game and allowing 11 runs (8 earned).
Next Up: The Lakers are scheduled to play the Edison State Chargers in their home finale on Wednesday (4/29). First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm. Sophomores will also be recognized prior to the games.
