Men's basketball sweeps Commodores

The Lakeland men's basketball team tipped off the second half of their season by traveling to Lorain County to face the Commodores in OCCAC action. The Lakers jumped out to an early lead as they dominated the boards and used an unselfish passing attack to beat the Commodores 103-58 and sweep the season series. In the 1st half, Lakeland sank 8 of 13 3-pointers while Lorain hit just 1 of 12 from the arc as the Lakers took a commanding 51-27 lead into the break. In the second half, the Lakers picked up their defensive pressure and maintained their offensive flow as they coasted to the final victory. With the win, Lakeland's record improves to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the OCCAC.

Marlon Landingham led the way for the Lakers as he scored 24 points while shooting 7-12 from the arc. Landingham fell just short of a triple double as he also collected 13 rebounds and added 7 assists. Alikai Creque recorded a double double as he finished with 16 points (7-10 from the field) while grabbing 12 rebounds. Isaiah McAdams had a strong game as he finished with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists while Jadallah Suleiman finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Juwan Turner added 9 points while Chauncey Brashers finished with 6 points and 4 steals. Amarion Glenn (4 points, 6 rebounds) and Nathan Tadiello (5 points, 5 rebounds) both played well for the Lakers while Taylor Blanton connected on a 3-pointer in the win.

Next Up: The Lakers will head to Springfield, Ohio on Saturday (1/10) to play the Clark State Eagles in OCCAC action. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:00 am.
