The Lakeland men's basketball team travelled to Edison State today in a key OCCAC matchup. The Lakers edged the Chargers earlier in the season and had the chance to clinch the OCCAC Chamoionship outright with a victory. Edison State needed to beat the Lakers to have a chance at getting a share of the conference title. The Lakers used a strong defensive effort and excellent play on the boards to key a decisive 81-72 victory. With the win, the Lakers record improves to 20-6 overall and 14-1 in OCCAC play. Jadallah Suleiman led the way (15 points) in the first half as the Lakers had a balanced scoring attack with 7 different players scoring. Lakeland went into the break with a 39-31 advantage.

The Lakers continued the balanced attack in the second half as Edison State tried to make a run. Every time the Chargers tried to get back into the game - Lakeland answered. Jadallah Suleiman again led the way with 17 points while Isaiah McAdams added 7 points. In the second half, 5 different players scored at least 2 baskets as the Lakers cruised to the victory.

Jadallah Suleiman led Lakeland with a game high 32 points. Isaiah McAdams finished with 12 points while Chauncey Brashers added 10 points. Marlon Landingham recorded 8 points while Alikai Creque recorded 7 points for the Lakers. Juwan Turner, Micah Blackmon, and Amarion Glenn each chipped in 4 points in the Lakers win.

Coach T's Talk: "We had a strong defensive effort tonight which allowed us to control the tempo and the game. We had a lot of games last week (4 games and 2 long trips) and then another long trip tonight to play a good Edison team - it was a real good challenge. I'm proud of the team and the way we've responded. Winning the conference championship was one of our goals this season. We'll enjoy the trip home and then get ready to finish the season strong on Saturday."

Next Up: On Saturday (2/28), the Lakers will play host to the Clark State Eagles in OCCAC play. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:00am on Terry Bowe Court. Prior to the game, sophomores from both the women's and men's basketball teams will be recognized. The recognition program is scheduled to begin at 10:45 am.
