Lakeland's womens basketball team jumped back into OCCAC action today as they traveled to Fremont, OH to face the Terra State Titans. Lakeland had one bad quarter and unfortunately that was enough to cost the Lakers a 71-60 defeat at the hands of the Titans. Lakeland started out on fire in the 1st quarter. Five different players scored as Lakeland jumped out to a 21-6 lead after one period of play. Terra State used the 3-pointer to get back into the game in the 2nd quarter, but the Lakers were able to fend the Titans off and held a 32-28 lead going into the break.Lakeland is typically a very strong 3rd quarter team; unfortunately, not today. The Lakers struggled from the field and the Ttians took advantage of mistakes to take a commanding 57-40 lead after 3 quarters. Lakeland continued to battle and cut into the lead in the 4th quarter, but were unable to complete the comeback.
Lakeland had 3 players finish in double digits. Joh'niqua Clay led the way with 17 points while Kennedy Coleman finished her afternoon with 16 points. Arianna Vera recorded 10 points while Monetta Hilory added 8 points for the Lakers. Gabriella Moore chipped in 6 points in the Lakers loss. Another key point in the game was the Titans taking more free throws than the Lakers (21-11).

Next Up: On Thursday, (12/18), the Lakers will travel to the Community College of Allegheny County to face the Wildcats in non-league play. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
