Lakeland Community College softball has added two new signees for the 2019 team in outfielder Braelyn Horn (Fremont) and infielder Abbie Tuttle (Springfield).
Horn is a speedy outfielder that stole 30 bases in her junior season at Fremont Ross High School. In 2017, Horn hit .442 with 42 hits and 13 runs batted in playing in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
"Braelyn gives us speed in the outfield and at the top of the lineup," said Jeff Morganti, Lakeland head coach. "She plays with energy and is looking forward to playing at Lakeland."
Tuttle is an infielder that can play at first base or at catcher out of Shawnee High School. In 22 games at Shawnee, Tuttle hit .493 with five home runs and 32 runs batted in.
"Abbie will provide us with power in the middle of the lineup," Morganti said. "She enjoyed her visit to campus and made her decision to come to Lakeland quickly."
The Lakers will open the 2018 season on March 2 at Ohio University – Chillicothe for a doubleheader that begins at 3 p.m. Lakeland's first home game will be on March 28 against Mercyhurst North East for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
